Oeuf Korreckt - Shibuya Without End [nt036] - Frédérick Blouin
Oeuf Korreckt's fourth No Type release presents four different variations on the "Shibuya" theme: more than a remix EP, these tracks are really meant to be listened to back to back as a continuous piece. Also included is Osaka Commtech Five, of which a different version appears on his later No Type CD, Podweek [imnt0205], not to mention an unbelievable "orchestral" version of Shibuya!

Michael Berk - Idiom Neutral Reformed [slapmp3_004] - Michael Berk
Mike Berk makes you groove with an imminently danceable 6 track maxi-single. Everyone at the slapart office just can't stop listening to his "idiom neutral reformed." I don't know what you call this kind of music, but it's good. A cross between pop and experimental.

CCI - Ole b/w Figmants [slapmp3_014] - Jeremy Carter
Multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Carter (guitar, upright electric bass, flute, electronics) corrals his brother Tim to keep the rhythm, which he does very well thank you. The first is a familiar Coltrane tune showcasing Jeremy on the lead on each of his instruments. The second is an original composition. I know it's not exactly "electronic music" but it's still got that improv edge you gotta love.

Bill Mattinson - Backmask [slapmp3_007]
Slapart ran across this Alabama native at Mike Berks now defunct ThinkTank party. Like Berks "idiom neutral reformed" (slapmp3_oo4), this release gets its hands dirty equally with both pop and experiment. While Mattinsons programming leans a bit more towards Top 40 tendencies, "backmask" is a solid album-length (2314") mp3 release from an up-and-coming Brooklyn producer. Fans of cut-up and orchestral electronics (Aphex Twin, Mum) wont be disappointed.

Jeremy Carter - An Ominous [slapmp3_022] - Jeremy Carter
In this second installment of the slaptape series, Jeremy Carter of the jam-improv-rock outfit Carter Bros. explores the more delicate side of his hand-made instruments. This cassette has two sides: one side made using Carter's own uniquely designed electric upright bass (see picture), the other side using a standard 12-string electric also crafted by Carter. The music itself is beautiful... extended Frippertronic guitar drones, heavily bowed bass figures mashed to death by equalizers and sample...

Djinnestan - Ghosties EP [wh029] - C.P. McDill
Haunted textures of sound are served forth in classic Djinnestan style in this unexpected EP release. Do ghosts relive their dying moments? Do they have unfinished business, or messages for the living? Without explaining the concept of this album, I shall leave you to infer what you can from the track titles and a close listening to these haunted soundscapes. Djinnestan's art consists of heavily processed acoustic, electronic, and sampled sounds, woven into rich sonic textures...

DJ Shield - Midnight On an Open Highway [slapmp3_012] - DJ Sheild
Who is DJ Shield you ask? An unknown electro-soldier from the Deep South, DJ Shield does for experimental/electronic/improv underground what DJ Shadow did for funk 45s and old school hip hop. Although this artist works exclusively with samples of pre-recorded music, you'd be hard-pressed to discern that from the organic nature of this release. Some of the samples sound like Evan Parker, Blackalicious, Radian thrown in with some Tuvan throat singing, kotos, shakuhachi, etc...
